Citizens Helping Citizens In Crisis. Is a group of well trained community volunteers working in partnership with Emergency Responders providing emotional and practical support to victims and their families immediately following a traumatic event. We strive to make a difference. Calls in the month of July.
Our citizen volunteers will provide emotional first aid to survivors of tragedy in order to ease their immediate suffering and facilitate their healing and long term recovery. TIP has received the prestigious Innovations Award.

Friday, September 26, 2008. Falling palm tree kills 4yo boy. A falling palm tree has killed a four-year-old boy and left his father with head injuries in the far north Queensland tourist town of Port Douglas. The boy and his father were walking along Owen Street when the tree fell and hit them about 2. The boy died at the scene. We are currently investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the coroner. Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
